Grief & Loss

A person with curly hair stands in a sunlit forest, back facing the camera.

Grief isn’t limited to death.

It can come through divorce, estrangement, identity shifts, becoming a parent, leaving a faith community, coming out, moving, diagnosis, or realizing something in your life no longer fits anymore.

There are also quieter griefs. The life you thought you would have. The version of you that had to adapt. The relationships that changed shape over time.

Grief doesn’t follow stages or timelines, it is as unique as you. It often shows up in the body before it has words.

In therapy, we make space for what has been lost without rushing toward resolution. We slow down enough to notice what your grief is asking for and what it has been holding on your behalf.

  •  If you are in crisis, please do not use this site. Call or text Blackline (prioritizing BIPOC) 800-604-5841, Trans Lifeline 877-565-8860 or click here to see more crisis services and information about police intervention.
  • Please note that some crisis line workers are mandated to report calls regarding suicide to the police. If this is a concern, we encourage you to first ask about their reporting policies before sharing.
  • If you or someone you know is in immediate, life-threatening danger and decide to call 911, please be aware that police are not equipped to offer mental health support and may even pose danger to People of Color, Neurodivergent people and Disabled people. Please ALSO reach out to community leaders, neighbors, friends, and family to be present if you are calling the police.

I reside and practice on stolen land that belongs to the Piscataway and Manahoac peoples. Learn more about this land and to learn about the land you live on. Please consider how you can support the first stewards of this land.
