Gender & Sexuality

Queer-Affirming Therapy for LGBTQ+ Adults in DC & Virginia

There is no correct timeline for understanding yourself. You might be questioning your sexuality, coming out later in life, exploring your gender identity, or noticing that the life you built no longer fits in the way it once did. As a nonbinary, late-blooming lesbian, I understand the experience of untangling long-held assumptions and building a life that feels more aligned with who you are. You don't have to arrive at therapy with a clear label, a fully formed identity, or a plan for what comes next.

Making Space for Who You Are

Exploring gender and sexuality can bring relief, excitement, grief, fear, and uncertainty. Sometimes all at once. You may be reconsidering relationships, family expectations, religious beliefs, or the version of yourself you've spent years presenting to the world. In therapy, we can explore identity, relationships, family dynamics, coming out, religious conditioning, internalized shame, gender dysphoria, and the emotional complexity that often comes with change. I provide virtual gender-affirming therapy for transgender, nonbinary, queer, questioning, and LGBTQ+ adults in Washington, DC and Virginia. When clinically appropriate, I can also provide documentation related to gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgical care. I work with partners and family members who are navigating how to support someone they love through transition or identity exploration.

Therapy Without an Agenda

My role isn't to tell you who you are or who you should become. We can slow down and pay attention to what feels true, what you've learned to suppress, and what becomes possible when you no longer have to organize your life around other people's expectations. This work can involve grief for the years spent trying to fit, anger about what was expected of you, and the vulnerability of allowing yourself to want something different. There is room for all of it. You deserve a space where your identity isn't treated as something to fix, explain, or defend.
